Management Team

Roger E. Layne – President

 

Mr. Layne has been involved in the General Engineering and General Building construction industries for more than 25 years. He has acquired extensive experience and knowledge from his management and direct involvement in a variety of complex and challenging projects ranging from shopping centers and site improvements to bridges, freeways and airport runways.

He is involved in every aspect of the business, maintaining a “hands on” approach with his customers, project managers, project superintendents and office personnel. This management style allows for the on time completion of projects in an efficient and cost effective manner.

Mr. Layne currently holds an “A” - General Engineering & “B” – General Building contractor's license in the States of California, Oregon and Washington.

David H. Plante – Vice President

 

Mr. Plante has experience in the General Engineering and General Building construction industries and has worked throughout the Southwestern United States for the last 22 years. His experience with a variety of environmental, underground and large scale earthwork projects has given him the knowledge and experience to successfully manage any site development project that is undertaken.

Mr. Plante is directly involved with the issuance of contracts, subcontractor coordination and the scheduling and management of projects with the project managers. His ability to communicate clearly and concisely with clients, regulatory agencies and subcontractors, translates to projects being delivered on time and within budget.

Lisa Hitchcock – Secretary / Treasurer

 

Mrs. Hitchcock has specific job responsibility as the Corporate Accounting Manager. She has more than 20 years of accounting and financial management experience.   Mrs. Hitchcock also provides W.R. Layne Construction & Engineering with the experience needed to successfully track and manage any project. She is customer service oriented and applies her skills to manage each job effectively to completion.  

Jim Sylvester – Senior Project Manager - Southern California Division

Mr. Sylvester's experience in the Commercial, Industrial & Retail Construction Industry spans over 27 years, with the past 15 years exclusive to Retail Development Projects.

With extensive hands on experience in all types of building construction and on & off-site developments, Mr. Sylvester is well equipped to manage any size project from 1 to 40 acres.

Working directly with National and Regional Retailers, Commercial & Industrial Developers, and Subcontractors, in multiple locations with a wide variety of agencies throughout the Western United States he has a solid background and the experience necessary to successfully complete any type of Construction Project. He develops and maintains project schedules and closely monitors the progress with attention to detail. His knowledge of the industry gives him a unique ability to cost effectively co-ordinate with Clients, Construction Managers, Consultants, Regulatory Agencies, Subcontractors and our Field Management Teams, to deliver the highest quality project on time and within budget.
